LA’s Wartime Recitals new single “Wide Awake” is the song of the summer for the fall season
The 6-piece Los Angeles indie pop outfit follows up last year’s debut EP with a new single that features their signature chamber pop in a shimmery dance anthem. Featuring dulcet male & female harmonies, piano, and buttery guitar leads, “Wide Awake” is about the struggle to maintain lasting relationships in the modern age, due to distance, technology, and the temptations of what’s in front of you. The band recorded the song in late summer nights at a Surf City Studios in Huntington Beach, CA, with bassist Michael Giardina engineering and mixing the track. “Wide Awake” is mastered by T.W Walsh. (Sufjan Stevens, Benjamin Gibbard, The Shins, Cold War Kids).
The single also debuts Wartime Recitals’ newest member, co-vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Meagan Christy. Wartime Recitals is Jonathan Krueger (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Meagan Christy (co-vocalist, synths, percussion, brass), Hugo Gomez (piano), Joe Cooper (electric guitar), Michael Giardina (bass), and Thomas Bram (percussion).
The band is currently writing and recording the follow up to their self-titled debut.
